Procedural and Surgical Dermatology
Full-Body Skin Exam / Skin Cancer Screening
- A yearly skin check is recommended for everyone. More frequent monitoring may be necessary in patients that are at higher risk for skin cancer (light skin types, a history of sunburns, many moles or birth marks and or having a family member with a history of melanoma).
- Dr. Boker will perform a thorough inspection of your skin and use several tools such as a polarized light dermatoscope, a 365 nm ultraviolet light and magnifiers to closely examine moles, freckles and other growths on your skin.
- If an atypical lesion is identified, he may take a photograph for close monitoring or recommend removing it to send it off for a biopsy.
